Weekend Update

I am having writer’s block and a lot went on this weekend, but I do want to say:

1. miss_geek and vanmojo are the best dates for a nerd’s night out at a museum. Plus there was a mechanical dinosaur the size of a car wandering around, and we learned about dolphin brains and behavior, and there was ROCK MUSIC. What a good time! New rule for the Mountain Goats, though. Y’all have to play at least 10 miles away from USC. I’ll explain later.

2. A day with turnip and spork0 is a fine, fine thing. Three hours of gabbling over coffee and then a memorably good meal at Pomegranate Restaurant, an unexpected and amazing Russian/Georgian restaurant. Plus, you know, zee beautiful womenz. Unavailable: the best kind for true romance.

3. I live in the only place in the country with good weather right now.

Outing to the Natural History Museum Tomorrow

The science nerdery and party at the museum is tomorrow, starting at 5:30. I have two advance tickets left. Joshua and I are somehow going to meet and go together. I’m sure we could pick people up on the way if anyone is interested.

The only thing I am not sure of is when we’ll go. Arriving at 5:30 in Exposition Park requires Nightmare Traffic, so if he arrives earlier we might just go for it.

If anyone is interested in going and might go at a different time, you might want to try meeting me in person tonight and getting a ticket from me. Or leave a note here if you have another exciting idea.

Another win from Bob

A discussion about how old people can make money with some insurance thing.

PERSON1: Yeah, my mom was a candidate for it. Still doing great too, and she’s 50 grand richer.

PERSON2: My mom could qualify but there’s no way she would go for a financial thing she didn’t understand.

BOB: We had to hold my mother down and pound six holly stakes through her heart. We used young Nubian boys. Actually they were from Asbury Park, they were just dressed as young Nubian boys.
