The new theocrats in charge of our government despise homosexuals and liberal humanists. Both groups are accused of being Anti-Christian; of having an “agenda” that includes the conversion of the faithful to sin; of infiltrating schools and libraries and government to carry out their aims; and of pretending to be ordinary, normal citizens while concealing their horrible plan to Satanize the country.

These same theocrats, although they are overwhelmingly members of evangelical Protestant Christian denominations and churches, include members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in their midst. Mormons are staunch Republicans, give the state of Utah to the cause, and are enthusiastic haters of gays and liberals.

As we know, neither homosexuals nor liberals are actually involved in any campaign to convert mainline Christians. This is a piece of paranoia born out of ignorance and fear.

However, let us consider the Mormons. They are the world’s fastest growing religion. They are wealthy and secretive. Their aim is to convert the entire world to their faith, and to retroactively baptize the dead in fact. They are behind thousands of businesses, teach in public schools everywhere, and have sought elected and appointed office with success. And they’re not Christians.

Mormons believe that every man will become God. They despise Catholic and Protestant Christianity alike, convinced that their own revelation supersedes the Biblical tradition. Although they take great pains to look like normal everyday mainline Christians, they believe in magic glasses and interpretive stones, wear magic underwear, and have as their holy books everything and anything said or written by their 19th century American prophet.

I propose that Mormons should be denied marriage, forbidden to teach in public schools or hold public office, and required to register as Religious Offenders at police stations so that their movements may be tracked. They are a known and admitted threat to our Christian faith. Their agenda is the reign of heresy on earth and the damnation of our entire country. How long will we stand by while this evil rots away in our country’s hearts?

A former Oakland Raiders kicker was in police custody Tuesday night in the September drive-by shooting at the home of entertainers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, police said.

Cole Ford, 31, whose three-year NFL career ended in 1997 after he missed crucial kicks, was identified earlier by police as the owner of a white minivan from which shots were fired at the entertainers’ compound.

No one was hurt, but police said shotgun pellets shattered windows and left a hole in a wall. Police have not said if the two were at home at the time.

Ford was captured without incident Tuesday afternoon at a copy store near the Las Vegas Strip after a woman tipped police that he was inside, police said.

He faces six felony warrant charges of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle and two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The long-running Siegfried & Roy show was forced to close a year ago after Horn suffered a near-fatal tiger mauling during a performance.

Since a lot of my Internet-linked friends and acquaintances are either liberals, libertarians, or leftists I have heard a lot lately about leaving the U.S. because of disgust with or fear of the current government and their policies.

Let’s talk sense about this.

1. You can’t just “move to Canada” or Sweden or France or the U.K. or anywhere, really. Unless you’re independently wealthy and/or retired it just doesn’t work that way. You have to go through an immigration process and it’s long and painful. It can easily take years for even an experienced professional with a job offer to get through the thicket of bureaucracy that any well-run country erects for immigrants.
2. You can’t run from Imperial America. Canada is an especially laughable choice here; when we sneeze, they get a cold. The long arm of U.S. power extends to every place in the world, certainly to every place you could stand living. Go up there and watch things get worse here if you want. At some point an apologetic Mountie will arrive to explain that you’re being deported back because of a joint security agreement.
3. Foreign countries, surprisingly, are different. The peculiar luxuries, freedoms, and opportunities of our country will not be present there. Things cost a lot more, the weather is different, and the justice system may shock you. If you’re not already an experienced traveler who enjoys surprises and strangeness, it’s entirely possible you’ll hate everywhere but home.
4. Cowardice is not rewarded, either in respect or in results. Stay and fight for what you believe. Whether you are a libertarian who despises Ashcroft’s new police state, a liberal who rejects warmongering and theocracy, or a core leftist despairing at corporate America, there is work to be done here. Defeatism is a self-fulfilling apocalypse.

In sum, don’t leave unless you have another good reason to do so and a plan for achieving it. The wealth and privilege and freedoms you have as your birthright carry with them the obligation to serve your country in its time of need. Be a citizen first for a change. If you leave here, your new home will demand no less of you.
