HELLO, LOVELIES. WHO’S GOT THE BUMP UP FOR LORD FONDLEROY?

Feeling good today!

Really good, in fact, for the first time in a while. Rollin’ with that, if you please. Partly an accident of daily chemistry and partly Spring, but also I’m nearly off the #$(@)$ Vicodin, not more than a half pill a day.

This means that my digestive system is working again and I’m no longer laboring with the extra weight of a depressant. People who have abused the stuff tell me it’s no fun unless you take ten or more with a big glass of vodka. I’m going to trust them on that one because I want to reach age 50, and preferably without dialysis or unwanted prison tattoos.

I have been listening to a lot of Bowie, and Queen, and a lot of other very pinky music. I wonder if I’m slowly turning into a fey, bisexual 1970s Englishman? That would be more interesting in Orange County than being a left-wing nerd. To celebrate this, here’s a video of Bowie, Klaus Nomi, and Joey Arias doing “Boys Keep Swinging” on Saturday Night Live, on my 15th birthday: December 15, 1979 (thanks to torgo_x for the find!):

There are hummingbirds attacking the flowers in my yard. The buzznets isn’t broken. I’m gonna go out into the big blue room, now.

  1. Woohoo for feeling better! This weather is making everything seem better over here too, even a trip to IKEA which usually makes me break out in a cold sweat and sing Kumbaya.

    1. Ikea is all about the cheap cooking accessories near the end of the “ride.” At some Ikeas you can sneak through a door at the entrance and go there without having to experience 500 yards of Jerkers and Hüübastanks

  2. Oh man, I remember seeing that on TV! 9th grade! Sexy! Didn’t he also do “I am the DJ” that night with early special effects: his head and a doll body?
And yay for getting off the prescription downers. I’ve used vicodin for pain the past, but I wound up having to label the vial “Makes Me Wanna Kill Myself Pills” b/c, well, it was just too sucky to be in dire pain and totally bereft of hope w/o some idea that it might be temporary.

      1. I actually like pooing as an activity. I find it to be very satisfying. But maybe that comes from a lifetime in which there have been many, many times of days in a row with no pooing.
        Also poo is funny.

  4. Very glad you felt better today. I’m sorry you’ve been through nine circles of hell lately with pain and the arm and everything else. I hope this is just one of lots more good days to come.
The video, needless to say, is lovely. If Rodney Bingenheimer can open an “English Disco” then you can absolutely be an effete bisexual Englishman.
