Apparently it’s the Roman holiday of Consualia, on which day the Rape of the Sabine Women took place. The holiday is all about THE GRAIN THAT IS UNDERGROUND AND HIDDEN AND PROTECTED. Fascinating stuff.

I just experienced the sexual equivalent of the Seinfeld “Muffin Tops” episode.

Proposal: NaGoOvMo

Instead of wasting our time with “National Novel Writing Month” and making up a cute name for it, I propose that we do something useful: overthrow our stupid fucking government, who have proven themselves in their entirety (all branches and both parties) to be wicked, venal, stupid, lazy, arrogant, and dangerous to the entire world. A clean sweep. Replace them maybe with ostriches as Robert Anton Wilson suggested.

I mean, seriously. Even my conservative Republican acquaintances can’t stand these people any more, and those of us on the other side of the aisle would have no problem dumping all the Democrats too. They’ve had their verbal warning and their written warning. It’s time to terminate them and have Security walk them out.

Anyway the thing is, we have to do it together, and we have to do it all in one month. I propose: National Government Overthrow Month, or NaGoOvMo.

It was 40 years ago today

This is fun, via genericus. Wow, a lot of classic music happened the year I was born. The kind of stuff you put in the boom box for the beach in summer nowadays: Early Beatles, Motown R&B, etc. Plus both “House of the Rising Sun” and “Surfin’ Bird”! Woo! I’m sure I like a couple of the Al Hirt tunes because my parents had a few of his records when I was a little kid that I enjoyed, like “Honey in the Horn”.

Go to http://www.musicoutfitters.com and put your birth year into the search thingy. The first link is likely the top 100 songs of that year. Cut and paste that list here. Bold the ones you actually like. Understand that the word “like” in this case means, in the very least, “wouldn’t immediately change the radio station from.” Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite.
