Where’s the hierophant for this hypnopomp?

I keep most of my psychologically related stuff on the brain filter now, but here are some recent factoids of interest that have come up from my own situation.

One theory for the effect of NFB is that it replicates the twilight states of the brain, the hypnagogic and hypnopompic states of going to and coming from sleep. The theory is that the brain does a lot of “figuring out” emotional issues and trauma in those states, and that inducing or prolonging them is helpful.

Digestive health has way, way more effect on mental health that many people realize. An ounce of Metamucil is worth a ton of neurochemical intervention.

Mindfulness is hard. Oh, you knew that, though.

      1. I’ma vegetarian….But it’s not any harder or more expensive for me that when I ate meat. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe because I still will eat fish?

      2. I still ate fish too. Couldn’t give that up! No, no…it’s just, I live in northern Canada, and fresh vegetables are extremely expensive here, because it’s all imported from far away. Also, very few people are vegetarians here, so we don’t have many organic or whole foods grocery stores – and it’s even hard to find veg choices on menus in restaurants. And in general, the lack of vegetarians makes social vegetarianism a constant imposition.

  1. Digestive health? I never would have guessed. Well, I might have guessed, with the whole holistic thing, maybe… But I doubt I would have thought to guess.

  2. digestive stuffs
Agreed, and I think that was really a major reason I found the hospital counterproductive: crap food + zero physical activity = INNARDS REBEL.

  3. When I was a vegetarian (which you may find surprising given my recent PETA rant, but I’m an informed ex-veg), my digestive health was outstanding. I felt absolutely wonderful.
I just don’t have the energy or money to maintain it.
