Little girls dancing, dancing, dancing for gold

This Holiday Season, I am going to try to be more and more like John Tesh every day. It will be my spiritual meditation, and my gift to my friends.

John is a man of God, a genius of the New Age music, and my favorite television host ever.

A friend of mine worked for him once. One day, they were setting up for one of his big shows and everything broke, and all the technical people were very frustrated, and John was very frustrated with them! Although John is a tremendous human, he is a flawed sinner too! And he became very upset and used harsh words and loud voice with them, and was quite rude. Then his Higher Self became aware and he was apologetic and tried to make it up to them. He called them together and said something like:

“Guys, I’m sorry I blew up there. We were all frustrated and I shouldn’t take it out on you. And you know..” [dramatic pause] ..”despite all my rage, I’m still just a rat in a cage.”

Also, he made my friend play air French horn on stage once which was an ennobling gesture.

Couldn’t we all use a little Tesh in us, this Holiday Season?

I am as happy as a LITTLE GIRRRRL

There was an art opening in town tonight (this isn’t an art opening kind of a town), and one of the local characters had just been to it when he showed up at D’s. Woody is a constant presence at the coffeehouse. I think in theory he fixes things there and gets free coffee as a result. He’s a fortysomething guy with the rockstar balding look, who habitually wears shorts and a sweatshirt. He’s from Jersey. Tonight, post art opening, he was sporting black pleather pants, a black cable knit sweater, and tasseled loafers.

Now, this is Woody, and one must make allowances for people who aren’t from here. But I don’t think that’s an acceptable uniform even in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ or wherever the fjord he’s from. The Gods cursed me and I couldn’t get a good shot of him, but maybe Hils did.

I repeat, tasseled loafers.

I made a good dinner tonight: Baked salmon with cracked black pepper, steamed asparagus, and tomato salad. Served with a nice dry Riesling. First decent meal I’ve cooked and eaten since I got this flu, which I think I may now have completely killed.

It felt a lot colder tonight than the 53 F it supposedly was.
