Mancha!

I went up to Lake Elsinore and hung out with Bob for a few hours today. Took a lot of pictures, had good conversation. He’s not going to be around a lot longer, it seems. If anyone wants to get hold of him I have his number.

I’ll go through the whole story later when I’m less blown out. It was 103 F up there. For now, here’s a picture of Stain, the Australian Blue Heeler cattle dog:

  1. There are a lot of people who know Bob now and only through you. I hope you can convey to him how many people he’s touched indirectly, because I know I feel oddly close to him even though we’re about as remote as can be. I also hope that you can somehow keep him even if he leaves us — your writing about him is really all we have and it has been very compelling. Don’t let him disappear please — I know that’s a burden to put on you, but ther it is. I’m asking.

    1. He’s going to North Carolina, specifically right next to the Outer Banks on the coast. His sister and brother-in-law have property there and they’re giving him a plot to plonk down some prefab housing on.

      1. Well that’s a relief!
Considering some of the problems he’s had, it was very easy to assume that “he’s not going to be around a lot longer” meant something a little darker than a move to North Carolina. Unless that’s a new SoCal euphemism or something.
