OLDE MEME
It’s one of those jokes that was hilarious the first year, amusing enough to think about doing, and promptly forget to participate in the second year, and has now attained the status of “What? This shit again? Aren’t we tired of it yet???”
Yes, this is one of those deals where it was cool while it was underground, but now that every turd burglar is doing it, its not so cool.
This eurotrash fucker in my Chem class today actually got kicked out of the room for answering “YARRRR CATALYSIS” to some question the professor asked.
I guess this makes us Internet-Creation/Novelty Snobs?
I still think Pirates are cool, but not when everyone loves it.
LOL WERE BEIN WIMSICAL ONLY ITS STRICCTLY REGIMENTED SO ITS IRONIC 2 SO AS U CAN SEE ITS VERY INTRICIT WIHCH OLNY MAKES IT MORE IRONIC B/C ITS PIRATES AFTERALL AND THERE VULGAR SO THE IRONY FEEDS OFF ITSELF BECOMING EVER MORE POWERFUL AND IA IA IRONY FTAGHN AND SECRETLY MY LACK OF GENIUNE EMOTION TERRIFIES ME LOL
I will not observe it until monkeys, ninjas, robots, and zombies also get their due! I want to see all hackneyed internet comedy cliches treated equally, damn it.
Counter-confession
I don’t want to start shit, but my curiousity is getting the better of me. I must admit that I don’t really see what all the fuss is about. It seems like a harmless enough amusement, and purely optional to boot, for one day out of the year. Is it the “nothing is any good if other people like it” syndrome, as another poster suggested? Or our Internet-fueled dissatisfaction with memes more than a few weeks old? Or just the embarassment of seeing people behave in a silly fashion in public?
Re: Counter-confession
I don’t like dialect humor most of the time. It feels really forced to me. So the first time I saw “talk like a pirate day” it was okay but it gets more leaden each time.

I am waiting for piratical speech to be ironically retro-cool. At internet speeds this phase of the fashion cycle may be mere weeks away.

What bad timing
That means it’ll be horribly out of fashion by next year.
