TEXAS EGG ROLLS
8 ounces cream cheese
12 jalapenos, chopped
1 pound egg roll wrappers or large wonton skins
Oil for frying
Small amount of water mixed with 1 tablespoon flour
Mix jalapenos with cream cheese.
Place small amount on wrapper, roll up eggroll style and seal the tip with a drop of the water-flour mixture. Continue until mixture is all gone.
Place in refrigerator for 2 hours. Heat oil to 350-375 and cook about 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Filling will be hot. Serve with jalapeno jelly.
I’m going to say, that the complete lack of red, white, or blue food coloring, as well as a failure to mention any KIND of texas shaped cookie cutter/pie tin leads ME to believe this is a forgery. We like our food to love freedom as much as we do.

They call those “jalapeno poppers” here, and they’re godawful.

AKA, the Jalapeno Popper, served in nearly every bar and restaurant as an appetizer around here. They’re actually pretty good…. so long as they leave the seeds in to make it spicier. One bar down the way from my old house used Habaneros… those suckers were spicy.
So I counter your NO. With “Yes! It’s a tasty treat!”

I blargh back at you. I think a lot of my reaction was to “Texas Egg Roll”, but jalapeno poppers were made to be barfed up with Jager.
Habanero, though. Hmm.

The egg roll wrappers are unique to this recipe, though, as is chopping up the jalapeno and mixing it with the cream cheese. Any jalapeno poppers I’ve seen have stuffed the jalapeno with cheese then breaded and deep-fried.

Much better:
matzoh with thin-spread cream cheese and another spread of sweet pepper jelly. Mmmmm. =)
The deep fried thingy just makes me think of those joke water snakes that you can’t hold on to, except full of oil.

I LOVE the jalapeno poppers as well as egg rolls and I see nothing wrong with mixing the two.
Of course, my sweetie has had to keep from barfing many a time while watching me eat strange and unusual concoctions so I’m in no way a good judge as to the grossness of this enticing recipe.
