It’s fine that you report on arrests for child pornography ( Brea Man, 55, Indicted On Child Pornography Charges ) and I understand that you’re going to give some details of the case.
But was it really necessary to include the domain of the website at which the arrestee and the witness met? It seems… counterproductive somehow.
You know. I knew it was probably a mistake to copy-paste that URL into a browser window. But I truly, and forthrightly, did not anticipate the magnitude of my mistake.

They seem to have removed the URL from the story you linked too. Smart move on their part.

I presume the purpose of naming the site is to pressure the proprietors to prevent the behavior, or shame them for the mere existence of their site, depending on the contents of a site I really, really don’t want to look at and don’t intend to.

I think they just put it in because they thought the URL was funny.

Yeah, as you’ll see from the thread someone pointed that out, which means of course that not only is the story implying untruths about the site, but sending unpleasant people that way. OOPS.

SIlverdaddies.com is like the combined alt.com and match.com of the gay senior world. Don’t ask me how I know this. At any rate, it’s not really all that any more nefarious or underground than myspace.

Wow, so it’s a double whammy. The site gets slimed as a pedophile haven, and then every pedophile who reads the story heads there to make things worse!

That may be true, but it’s so, so Foucauldian.
