Dear the Orange County Register:

It’s fine that you report on arrests for child pornography ( Brea Man, 55, Indicted On Child Pornography Charges ) and I understand that you’re going to give some details of the case.

But was it really necessary to include the domain of the website at which the arrestee and the witness met? It seems… counterproductive somehow.

  1. I presume the purpose of naming the site is to pressure the proprietors to prevent the behavior, or shame them for the mere existence of their site, depending on the contents of a site I really, really don’t want to look at and don’t intend to.

      1. Yeah, as you’ll see from the thread someone pointed that out, which means of course that not only is the story implying untruths about the site, but sending unpleasant people that way. OOPS.

  3. SIlverdaddies.com is like the combined alt.com and match.com of the gay senior world. Don’t ask me how I know this. At any rate, it’s not really all that any more nefarious or underground than myspace.
