Hello.

I like: Pizza; Sake; my cat; Ooiso’s spicy teriyaki rice bowl; Gypsy brass band music; verminefasciste; moderates; agnostics; disruptive influences; koi fish; rain.

I dislike: really, that’s not important right now.

I’m 40 and it’s not old enough to be nostalgic yet. You kids over there, stoppit.

Lonely is an eyesore.

Emo to them who think emo of it

Local musician J. played at D’s tonight. He’s a very nice guy and I like his circle of friends. However he is riffing on U2 songs from about 1988 and doesn’t stop. Embarrassing. He joined us between sets and the conversation turned to comedians. There was a meta conversation about Andy Kaufman’s disturbing later career and his habit of making people uncomfortable with forced humor. The meta wasin the sense that J. is an Andy Kaufman character who tries very hard to be wacky and it’s embarrassing. I was waiting for Tony Clifton to appear, or at least for someone to throw a wrestling move.

After the Uncomfortable Comedy Show he did another set of acoustic outtakes from “The Unforgettable Bore”. I think I’ve said it before, but Christian Evangelical Art of all kinds suits Joyce’s quote about the Irish, that their art was the cracked mirror of Europe. It’s all 20 years behind the times, earnest, squeaky-clean, sterile, dead. The music is all this blowdried-beard white soul, like Harry Chapin hauled out of the grave by A&R Jesus and told to make something the grunge kids would like, you know, that new beat combo sound.

In better news, XLNT chicken & cheese tamales with tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, oregano, and a small can of chipotles in adobo sauce work very well. One of the best meals I’ve had recently and almost all of it from a package?

Who’s got the 10 1/2?

To the 5 or 6 people who have recently IM’d me while “invisible”

On my client (iChat) I can’t respond to you when you do this. So, I’m not being evil or rude and I don’t hate you. I am just not allowed by our mutual configurations to converse.

I suggest having a list of people you don’t mind seeing you online, rather than being invisible, if you want to communicate better with others.

And now back to our feature presentation: “If At All Possible Involve a Cow”, starring John “Mad Dog” Ashcroft and Kiki Dee.
