DEAR CORY, XENI, AND ALL THE BOINGBOING PALS

I READ YOUR POST ON HOW TECH PROS COULD HELP WITH RECOVERY FROM HURRICANE KATRINA AND ITS AFTERMATH, LIKE WITH ALL OUR TECHNOLOGY EXPERTISE MAYBE OR FREE VOIP OR SOME TYPE OF INTERACTIVE PISSLET. I HAVE A GREAT IDEA. MAYBE ALL THE TECH PROS SHOULD WRITE A FUCKING CHECK, SINCE WE’RE OVERPAID WEENIES WITH NICE OFFICE JOBS? YOU KNOW, BASICALLY FORTUNATE FIRST-WORLD WINNERS WITH A LOT OF DISPOSABLE INCOME AND TIME TO FUCK AROUND ON THE INTERNET? YEAH.

OH I GUESS WHAT YOU REALLY MEANT WAS THAT YOU’RE ALL UNABLE TO FUNCTION AS ANYTHING EXCEPT GAMERS, DIGERATI, MEDIA WHORES, AND LOUDMOUTHS AND YOU WERE LOOKING FOR A WAY TO JUSTIFY THAT IN LIGHT OF A GENUINE HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY. CARRY ON!

    1. Considering the number of legitimate, and legitimately stupid charity ideas I’ve been seeing floating around, I think that iPods for the Superdome is a GO!!!!

  1. Every time there’s a huge disaster (tsunami, this) I’m flat broke. It makes me feel terrible. What the fuck am I going to *knit* for people in the Gulf area? Hello, HOT! Not that I have time to knit anyway.

  2. THEY ARE ALL A-LIST BLOGGERS AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPECTED TO DO TRIVIAL THINGS LIKE WORK, CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY, OR RESEARCH STORIES. THEY HELP WITH THEIR WIT AND [DIS]ORGANIZATIONAL POWER.

  3. Suggestion: we the geeks put together and deploy the world’s largest cybercafe …in the Astrodome.
There’s no way to parody this, is there? IS THERE?

      1. As recent events have proven, mineshafts are far too vulnerable to flooding to be a viable long-term shelter solution. What we need now are self-contained space habitats! And enough Cheetos to last us 100 years!
