  1. Re: 2, it seems pretty plausible that a choice for genetic combination and a choice for partnership in household maintenance (including bringing up the spawn) might not just be out of synch occasionally but might actually be at odds. I would have guessed more than 1 in 25.

  2. I still remember the first time I saw Gilbert on David Letterman.
    “My turtle has lost it’s moisture!”
    I don’t know if anyone else saw that, but it had me in tears, I laughed so hard.
