this is probably the only TV show where the hosts’ bios mention urination.

It’s the dLife show!

I used to say that everything in America is eventually viewed as a lifestyle choice. I should amend this to “everything that has a targetable audience who purchases known products is eventually viewed as a lifestyle choice”.

I sincerely hope that the material on the program is helpful and educational and makes people healthier.

That aside, it’s increasingly weird to me that everything that happens to us — literally everything — is now represented by people laughing and having a good time.

I got something in the mail about this but haven’t looked much further.
Personally, I’m starting to get annoyed at all the “do you have diabetes? Well here’s a product for you!” pitches. After almost two year after been diagnosed, I’m still not controlling my blood sugars like I should. I feel like every commercial is my mother, reminding me what I’m doing wrong.
I suppose since my bad eating and lifestyle habits (working too hard, not sleeping, etc) are what I see as the main reason I got diabetes so young, and since so many others are getting “adult onset” type II now because everyone is eating at McDonalds three times a day, I guess there IS a lifestyle associated with it. But it’s not one I would want to celebrate, if you know what I mean. Like, is there a Herpes lifestyle? Cancer? ALS? Just seems a bit off.

It reminds me of the bizarre early years of the AIDS epidemic, when it wasn’t PC to say “AIDS victims” or refer to it as a “disease”, they were PEOPLE WITH AIDS and it was somehow neutral or even positive.
I mean, shit. If I’d had it I would have been all IS TOO A DISEASE ASSHOLE, WANT ME TO COUGH ON YOU?
Which is pretty much how I feel about a broken pancreas being a lifestyle.

        Also: everything is a
        “community” now.
(To be fair, half (but just half) of those hits are things like “diabetes community education”, where they mean just community education about diabetes.)

Funny – I was going to mention AIDS as well, but thought I shouldn’t “go there” If you get OUT or other Gay Magazines, you see the ad campaigns that are creating this “AIDS Lifestyle.” I understand wanting to give people hope and keep them positive (no pun intended), but I think they’ve all gone a little too far at this point.
        Rock on
