The decline of this country began when I was a freshman in high school in 1979 when California passed Proposition 13, a scam pulled by landowners to reduce their taxes at the expense of schools and local services.
The whole slide to the right and beyond begins precisely there. I shall write a history lesson about this, because I doubt anyone younger than me remembers the story, or knows what it means today.
Please do write this history lesson, or anything. I will eagerly devour anything you write (and probably continue to nag you to write a novel).

In 1979, I was 7 years old. I remember that being the last year that almost blatantly socialist ethics were still a commanding part of the government.
