Exactly.
Based on what I read in The Omnivore’s Dilemna that “meal” may well be 100% corn, with the actual corn kernels being the closest thing to nutrition. But seriously the whole meal is just carbs and grease.
Re: Exactly. yeah, and we’re planting more. whee.
the additional problem is that this food has been processed and processed into something full of nasty compounds that are pretty much anti-nutritious. just eating a bowlful of corn or sugar or soybean oil would probably be better.
Re: Exactly.
Or as one of Pollan’s interviewees suggested, just drink the oil instead of using to to make fertilizer to make corn to make bad cow food to feed to cows to kill and cut up and eat as steak. More bang for your buck, and nothing tastes like “Light Sweet Crude.”
Re: Exactly.
yeah, i haven’t felt like reading omnivore’s dilemma because i’m an herbivore. bwahaha.
but i loved botany of desire way before everybody decided that pollan was cool.
The use of words like “banquet”, “gourmet”, and even “meal” on these things seems to have moved past simple advertising cajolery and past even lying and well into cruel hoax territory.
Re: … if you ever wondered why I’m only 5’3″
The real question is how you ended up being 5’3″ and a force of nature to be reckoned with. My theory is early caffeine consumption combined with high intelligence and the toxic atmosphere of Newport Beach.
Well, it is only a dollar.
