Brain bad. Books good.

Adderall holiday today. I’m predictably more sleepy and less focused, but I didn’t have much to do and being focused is tiring. I have been noticing a few side effects and over-tuned senses, etc. on this dose of the stuff so I’m going to ask to go down to 15 mg when I see him next week.

Being on a diuretic is tiring, too! Not only do I pee about 12 times a day right now, but I’m lightheaded and woozy and I keep having attacks of exhaustion when I have to sit down right now for about ten minutes.

Went to Mother’s to get 50 mg tablets of niacin (they’re hard to find, everyone wants to sell you 500 mg niacin or 100 mg each of a bunch of B complex). I managed to defeat their Huge Wall of Possibly Fraudulent Supplements and find it. I wonder why there are 20 different brands of vitamin? I bet if you’re a vitamin freak you have your special brand and think every other brand is suspect.

I’m not cut out to be a hypochondriac; this is all a huge pain. I think someone who would enjoy this should take it over.

I finished the biography of Corvo and I’m working on an article about him, because he’s so amazing. Now I’ve just started the new Eco and I already love it. And I just got Firbank’s “Five Novels”. Mmmm.

  1. It sounds awfully tiring, all the meds and supplements, I do not envy you at all.
I take vitamin supplements daily, religiously, I’d say, but I will buy store brands to save money. I usually buy the cheapest. But maybe I’m not a vitamin ‘freak’.

    YOU went to MOTHER’S???
    I thought that was verbotten.
There really are differences in vitamins. Mainly the source of the vitamin itself.
fer instance – the common, cheapest form of calcium is calcium carbonate. It is chalk. Literally chalk. It is shit to your system – you don’t absorb any of it, so don’t buy it. Calcium Citrate is a far more absorbable form, especially if you’re also taking Vit. D and exactly half as much magnesium as calcium. Coral calcium, although advertised in a fraudulent manner, is a decent form, since your body can absorb some of it.
Right down the line, each supplement has it’s quality variations, like everything else in the world. It takes lots and lots and lots and lots of time to research what actually works. Most are crap. A few are good.
I think someone should institute a national enema day.
I don’t know if enemas do any good, I just enjoy the thought of everyone getting a simultaneous enema.
    Bottoms up!

Yeah, I don’t need calcium or iron or any of those things where it’s super tricky. Just plain old niacin in a low dose.
Mother’s scares me. Everything there causes everything and cures everything else, and it’s full of people even crazier than me (staring eyes, twitching, asking if the forks are vegan).

Up here in Los Angeles we have a wildlife refuge for those people called “Venice”. I think some of them eat dirt.
Here’s a contrast between Costa Mesa and Los Angeles – usually homeless people up here in Santa Monica come up to you and ask for change. I was going into Mother’s on 17th a few weeks ago and a homeless woman came up to me and said, “Could you give me a five and a few singles?”
The lesson I learned: Always ask for more than you think you’ll get.
