I just found out that the local high school (my alma mater) has this week off, as they have for many years, for SKI WEEK.

although maybe it would be better if it was a made up holiday..

Actually, I’m not sure if it’s the same, but I had ski week every February while in elementary school. The deal was, we wouldn’t get off the little 1 day holidays, like Martin Luther King day or Columbus day, and then the week of presidents day, they would give you all those holidays back…all at once…so you could do something with them.

The NorthEast equivalent of this is “Snow Day”. But these are sporadic and not planned and usually GETTING TO the ski resort is the hard part
